Lawmaker Talks Strategy Ahead of Stand Your Ground Hearings

The state lawmaker who will lead hearings on Florida's Stand Your Ground law held a conference call with conservatives this week to talk strategy.

Critics are calling for the law to be changed or repealed after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford.

Ft. Walton Beach Rep. Matt Gaetz heard concerns about people coming in from other states to testify against the law.

"I think it's a good suggestion to prioritize the comment cards to allow Floridians to speak first; whether they're for or against stand you ground", Gaetz said.

Gaetz and other Republicans say the law is fine the way it is.

No date has been set for the hearings, but Gaetz says they're likely to happen before the end of the year.
