Governor Scott's Economic Growth Summit Attracts Presidential Hopefuls

Republican presidential hopefuls gathered in Orlando today to outline their prescriptions for economic success. About 300 business leaders packed into a conference center at Walt Disney World to hear from declared and potential presidential hopefuls at Governor Rick Scott’s Economic Growth Summit. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee - now a Florida resident- set the tone by praising Governor Scott’s record on job creation.

“And I say that for two reasons, number one because it’s true", Huckabee said. "And because this is his conference and anything I can do to suck up to him and his donors, by gosh, I’m going to do. So it’s just as simple as that.”

Huckabee also talked about his plan to reform the tax code and abolish the IRS.

Other speakers included Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker- who is yet to declare his bid for the Republican presidential nomination and Former Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who is widely expected to jump into the race, also spoke, but Senator Marco Rubio decided to skip the summit for a vote in Washington DC, appearing instead via video link.
