First responders and others who spent nearly a week looking for a missing Naples woman expressed surprise and joy after she was found safe but locked in a neighbor’s garage the entire time. On Monday Collier County Undersheriff Jim Bloom held a briefing on the ordeal of 80-year old Margaret Galloway. He said it was incredible she was found safe.

Sheriff's Office deputies reviewing doorbell camera footage from the community spotted the woman going into a garage. The garage door was later closed by tghe homeowner, who did not know the woman was inside.

Fort Myers police said the five teens killed when their car crashed into a retention pond Sunday night died from drowning. Three also suffered blunt force trauma. Acting Captain Shawn Yates at a press briefing Friday afternoon said the department’s investigation remains active. He said social media tips and surveillance video of the vehicle have provided additional details.

Michael J. DaCorta, 57, was sentenced in October to 23 years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud, money laundering, and filing a false income tax return. As part of his sentence, the court also entered an order of forfeiture in the amount of $2,817,876.16, a portion of the proceeds of the charged criminal conduct.
