Former UCF Student Stocked Up on Ammo for Attack

University of Central Florida police say the former student who was plotting an attack on campus had ordered rifle magazines and a training DVD by mail as part of his preparation.

30-year-old James Seevakumaran shot himself early Monday morning in a dorm where police believe he was planning to attack other students.  They found a rifle with two 110-round drum magazines, a hand gun, and a backpack with improvised explosives in the dorm.

In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, UCF police chief Richard Beary says the former student also had mail waiting for him.

“What was in the mail waiting for him was two 22-round magazines designed for the GSG weapon that he had”, said Beary.

Beary says Seevakumaran had a timeline of how he was planning to carry out the attack, but investigators have so far uncovered no motive. Police say Seevakumaran was acting alone.
