New Laws Go into Effect Today in Florida

Nearly 200 new state laws are set to go into effect today. These laws cover everything from the use of drones, to cyberbullying and selling bongs.

Starting today, the use of drones by local law enforcement will be strictly regulated. Unmanned aerial drones can only be used if a judge issues a warrant, if there is a high risk of a terrorist attack or if someone is in imminent danger.New cyberbullying laws give schools more power to fight online harassment of students whether it occurs on school grounds or elsewhere.

And smoke shops will have to be more careful about what they sell. It's now illegal to "knowingly and willingly" sell pipes used to consume illegal drugs.

All of these measures were approved this year by the Florida Legislature. Fifty bills are still awaiting Governor Rick Scott's signature.

The new state law banning texting while driving goes into effect on October first.
