The father of a Chechen man killed by the FBI in Orlando says he's optimistic about state and federal investigations into the shooting.
Abdulbaki Todashev will meet with officials at the US Attorney’s Office in Tampa today.
The FBI says Ibragim Todashev grew violent while he was being interrogated in May about the Boston Marathon bombings, forcing an agent to shoot him to death.
The US Attorneys Office will consider whether there was a criminal violation of Todashev's civil rights and whether agents broke their use of force policy.
On Tuesday Abdulbaki Todashev met with State Attorney Jeff Ashton in Orlando to discuss Ashton’s criminal investigation into the shooting.
Hassan Shibly of the Council on American-Islamic Relations was at the meeting. He says Todashev Senior left feeling satisfied.
"Of course the state attorney will be looking at different things related to, did the officers violate the use of force policy as it relates to Florida law", Shibly said.
Abdulbaki Todashev did not talk to reporters after the meeting. His attorneys said he was too emotional.
Todashev's attorneys say his son was unarmed. They say he was an acquaintance of one of the suspected bombers but was not involved in the attack.
Ashton says his investigation will take weeks.
