State Attorney Jeff Ashton: FBI Officer Acted in Self Defense, No Criminal Charges Warranted

State Attorney Jeff Ashton and the Dept. of Justice released separate reports today on the fatal shooting of a Chechen man in Orlando. In the 160 page report, State Attorney Jeff Ashton found the FBI agent acted in self-defense when he shot and killed IbragimTodashev.

Todashev was being questioned in his Orlando apartment in connection to a 2011 triple homicide. Also implicated in the homicide: Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing and an acquaintance of Todashev.

The report exonerates the FBI officer from any criminal wrongdoing. The Department of Justice also released a report today, arriving at the same conclusion.

In a statement the FBI said its own review found the shooting was consistent with the DOJ deadly force policy.
