Calls for Another Look at an FBI Interrogation That Left a Man Dead

Wikimedia Creative Commons

Investigations into Todashev's death by Ashton and the Justice Department cleared the FBI agent of any wrongdoing.

But the Boston Globe reports the agent previously was the subject of two police brutality lawsuits and four internal affairs investigations when he was at the Oakland Police Department.CAIR's Executive Director Hassan Shibly wrote in a letter to Ashton, "It is inconceivable to think that the history of those officers involved in Mr- Todashev's death would not be relevant to your investigation."

The FBI says the agent acted in self-defense. Investigators say they were questioning Todashev about his friendship with one of the accused Boston marathon bombers.

But Todashev’s family and friends continue to call for further investigation.
