On Thursday, Florida Department of Health officials announced 17 new cases of coronavirus in the state.
That's the largest single-day jump in COVID-19 infections to date, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 50. This total includes five Floridians being isolated somewhere outside the state and three non-Florida residents in isolation within the state.
The new cases include people who range in age from 24 to 83, with three of those people being in their 20s.
These newest cases include a 77-year-old man in Lee County and a 50-year-old-man and a 70 year old man both in Sarasota County.
