Musicians Edda Glass and Max Hatt
Tara Calligan, WGCU

We're revisiting our recording session from February of 2020 featuring music performed live in studio by guitarist Max Hatt and vocalist Edda Glass. You can hear that episode in its entirety here. You can hear their joint episode of WGCU's Three Song Stories here.

Their original music truly defies genre classification, but has been described as cinematic folk, including jazz, and Bossa Nova.  They garnered a Grand Prize win at the 2014 New Song Competition at Lincoln Center in New York.  They’ve performed all over the country and have appeared on both NPR and PBS.

Their 2016 album “Ocean of Birds,” was recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Ashville, NC and was produced by Pat Sansome of Wilco and Autumn Defense.  It’s available on iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon Music and Google Play. Reviewers have described their critically acclaimed original music as “mesmerizing, hypnotic, enchanting, exquisite, evocative, subtly poignant, elegantly funky, and haunting without trying to be.”
