Roughly 70% of Lee Home Connect students — about 16,000 kids — are being encouraged to return to in-person learning for the second semester because they are not making adequate progress in their online classes. Lee Home Connect is the virtual model developed by the School District of Lee County in response to the coronavirus pandemic. We get details from the district’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Jeff Spiro, Candace Allevayto, Director of Secondary Curriculum which is High School; and Dr. Bethany Quisenberry, Director of Elementary Curriculum with the district.

And we’ll hear the first in a five-part series of stories by Florida Public Radio’s Lyn Hatter called “Committed: Florida’s Children Victims Of Dysfunctional Baker Act System” which explores what happens when kids get committed.
