This episode originally airedon March 24, 2021.

When we choose to do something, are we always consciously aware of why we made that decision? That is one aspect of the field of research our guest today has spent the past several decades investigating. Dr. Sandra Schneider is Professor in Cognition, Neuroscience, and Social Psychology, Department of Psychology at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Dr. Schneider is founder of the USF Judgment and Decision Making Lab where research is conducted around issues of judgment and decision making, including how the way information is described or 'framed' influences decisions and behavior, the influence of framing in such contexts as making risky decisions, and people's metacognitive abilities or their ability to predict how well they perform at various of tasks.

We spoke with Dr. Schneider in advance of her talk for the Naples Discussion Group’s 20-21 schedule called “How We Make Decisions: Hidden Influences; Why Some Decisions Are Not What They Seem.”
