2016 Python Challenge

John Davis / WGCU

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is teaming up with the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida for the 2016 Python Challenge.  The event runs from Jan. 16 through Feb. 14, and will mark the state’s second Burmese Python removal competition following the first Python Challenge held in 2013.  We’ll explore the aim of the competition and what’s different about this year’s event.

We’ll also take a closer look at how these harmful invasive snakes are impacting the Everglades ecosystem and a local python tracking research effort aimed at finding new ways to combat the spread of pythons in South Florida.

Guests:

Carli Segelson, Spokeswoman, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Rob Moher, President and CEO, Conservancy of Southwest Florida
