Florida poet laureate Peter Meinke is bringing a night of poetry, stories, and song to Naples, accompanied by music from Southwest Florida composer and arranger William Dawson, Jr.

The event, set for Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Naples United Church of Christ, includes works from Meinke and a newly-composed song cycle for soprano, baritone and piano set to the poet's works. Performers include by Naples soprano Steffanie Pearce, the founder of Opera Naples and Gulfshore Opera; baritone Christopher Holloway; opera singer Nadia Marshall; and pianist Richard Bosworth.

Poet Mienke and composer Dawson join Gulf Coast Live to discuss the inspiration for their art, their new collaboration in Naples, and how their poetry and music is informed by Southwest Florida.
