A House Ethics Subcommittee has been formed to investigate Northeast Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown (D-FL5).
In a memo Wednesday, Ethics Chairman Charles Dent said the investigative committee is being formed to look into whether Brown behaved improperly in dealing with unnamed “outside organizations.”
Recently, the head of the Brown-affiliated One Door For Education organization pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
The ethics-committee memo also said its investigation is on hold at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, which appears to be conducting its own investigation into Brown.
The Jacksonville Democrat was served a federal subpoena earlier this year but has refused to comment on its contents.
Meanwhile, Brown is suing to challenge the new shape of her district, which was recently redrawn to stretch from Jacksonville to Tallahassee. She'll be explaining that challenge in court Friday in Tallahassee.
