In Southwest Florida, more than 63,000 people are employed in the service industry – that means hotels and restaurants, and another 73,000 work in retail.
That’s is according to the Southwest Florida Economic Development Alliance. With bars and nightclubs closed for at least 30 days, and restaurants ordered to operate at 50% capacity to try and prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the local financial impact is hard to fathom.
