Law Enforcement Split Worries Over RNC, Isaac

Representatives of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are keeping a close eye on both last-minute preparations for the Republican National Convention and the path of Tropical Storm Isaac.

John Joyce, who leads the U.S. Secret Service's Tampa office, said the possibility of a hurricane has always been part of their planning for the Convention.

“But now that it’s actually out there spinning, it definitely gives you a little bit more of a pucker effect of ‘Okay, we might actually have to implement some of the planning that we discussed."

Joyce indicates that, in the case Isaac does pose any danger, the Secret Service will defer to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as to how the Convention will proceed.
