Protestors Disrupt Rubio Speech

Gage Skidmore

The Florida delegates at the Republican National Convention may think they're far away from all of the action in Tampa. Florida was punished for moving up its primary – and the delegates are staying at a resort about an hour north of the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

But part of the show around the convention managed to find its way to the delegates on Tuesday, when protesters interrupted a delegation breakfast during a speech by U-S Sen. Marco Rubio.

"Hey Rubio, we the representatives of the working class demand that the GOP stop whoring themselves out to the big moneyed interests…", a protestor shouted

It was a small group – just three or four protesters, who got by resort security and into the breakfast at the Innisbrook Resort. They interrupted Rubio several times, shouting about economic equality, before being escorted out of the room.

Rubio joked about it.

"Well I guess he's not happy with the hotel assignment. Apparently he stumbled into the wrong convention."
