Turkish Journalist Lectures on 'Islam Without Extremes' at FGCU

Florida Gulf Coast University welcomes Turkish writer and journalist Mustafa Akyol this Thursday, Jan. 24, as he presents “Islam Without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Freedom and Tolerance.” The presentation is hosted by the FGCU Eagles for Liberty philosophy club, in partnership with the FGCU Multicultural and Leadership Development Center, and Honors College. Akyol is the author of two books called “The Islamic Jesus” and “Islam without Extremes.” He is also a senior fellow at the Cato Institute where he focuses on the intersection of public policy, modernity and Islam. Akyol is an opinion writer for The New York Times. Join us as we preview his lecture, and her his personal experiences with the subject.
