Violet Bell Returns to Southwest Florida

Violet Bell members Omar Ruiz-Lopez and Lizzy Ross

The soulful, bluesy and haunting folk-rock sounds of Violet Bell are making their way back to Southwest Florida for a series of concerts in the region.  The Durham, North Carolina-based music duo is currently on tour promoting their debut album, “Dream the Wheel,” with an anticipated second album coming out some time in 2018.  Violet Bell’s sound is difficult to categorize into a single genre with musical influences ranging from Fiona Apple and PJ Harvey to Otis Redding, Debussy the Velvet Underground  and Yo La Tengo.

We hear from band members Lizzy Ross who provides lead vocals and guitar and Omar Ruiz-Lopez who plays violin, viola, cello, keys, guitar and provides vocal harmonies as well.  We’ll also hear recorded selections from their debut album ahead of their upcoming shows in Lee County.  Violet Bell performs Jan. 12 at Point Ybel Brewing Company in Fort Myers, Jan. 13 at Nice Guys Pizza in Cape Coral and Jan. 14 at the Olde Fish House Marina in Matlacha.
