Wetlands Mitigation and Landowner Rights

A recent U.S. Supreme Court Decision ruled in favor of the family of a Florida landowner against the St. Johns River Water Management District.  The case, going back nearly two decades, disputed whether a government agency could impose mitigation demands on landowners looking to develop wetland habitat on their own property.  Supporters call it a win for private landowners, but what could it mean for efforts to protect Florida’s dwindling wetland habitat?
