World Stroke Day: Awareness and Prevention of the World's Leading Cause of Death

Yesterday was World Stroke Day, an annual awareness day observed on Oct. 29.

One out of six people in the world experience a stroke in their lifetime, making it the leading cause of death and disability globally.

Dr. Nima Mowzoon developed the rapid response acute stroke protocol at Lee Memorial Health System, termed Code S, in 2010. He then became the director of stroke and vascular neurology at LMHS, where he continued until 2014.

Dr. Mowzoon joins Gulf Coast Live to talk about stroke prevention and give some insight into telemedicine as the CEO of Ft. Myers-based TeleSpecialists.
