First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Naples

Farah Dosani

First Lady Michelle Obama visited Naples Friday to campaign for her husband. Local students greeted her upon landing at the airport. Two dozen students from Avalon and Mike Davis Elementary Schools gathered near the runway of Naples Municipal Airport and spoke with the First Lady.

Mrs. Obama showed her support for their projects.

Mike Davis Elementary started a running club for students. Avalon Elementary students grow and maintain a fruit and vegetable garden at school. Both complement the First Lady's Let's Move! initiative against childhood obesity.

"I was really excited. She asked us about our garden and what we grew and what we did to stay active", said third-grader Daniel Minogue.

Mrs. Obama left the airport to meet with local campaign volunteers and speak at a Naples campaign event.
