Florida Experiencing a Moderately Severe Flu Season

Florida Surgeon General John Armstrong says the state is experiencing a moderately severe flu season. His first bit of advice is to get a flu shot.

“This year’s flu vaccine is particularly effective", said Armstrong. "Two, wash hands. It seems so simple and yet so many people forget it, and that is an important way that we can prevent the spread of flu. And then three, if you’re sick with the flu or with flu-like symptoms, stay home.”

Armstrong says this flu season is peaking earlier than it has over the last ten years. But there’s plenty of vaccine available, and he says it works on the primary strain of flu that’s going around.
