The Statewide Task Force on Prescription Drug Abuse and Newborns approved its final report Monday and will start implementing its recommendations.

The panel was created last year to examine the abuse of prescription drugs by expectant mothers. Attorney General Pam Bondi said now it’s time for action.

"Cause you can write anything you want, but if it's not implemented, it doesn't make a bit of difference", said Bondi. "And we have mothers whose lives we want to save, we have babies whose lives we want to save – passionately."

The report examines prevention strategies for caring for babies with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.
