This morning we pay tribute to a man known as the Honorary Mayor of Charleston Park in rural Alva. Burdie Baker was known in the community for his remarkable kindness and his willingness to lend a hand in any way he could to neighbors in need. Burdie died December 23rd of 2015, but his stories and kind words and deeds leave a legacy in the hearts and minds of those who knew him as News-Press story-teller Amy Bennett Williams tells us in this week’s essay.
