Premature Birth Rate on the Rise in Florida

Florida recently earned a “D” on the March of Dimes Premature Birth Report Card as the rate of preterm births increased 0.7% between 2011 and 2012. As premature birth is the leading cause of death in newborns, we’ll explore what’s behind the increase, what populations are most at risk, and efforts in the Sunshine state to reduce the rate of premature birth.
