For 500 years, Germany’s Reinheitsgebot, commonly known as the "German beer purity laws," set the standard for beer across much of the world. In recent decades, however, American craft brewers have happily flaunted those rules, and in doing so, helped re-define what beer can be.
Southwest Florida craft brewers are no different, pushing the envelope with specialized ingredients to create unique beers, while also pushing for reform of the state's brewing and distribution laws. The craft beer "revolution" continues with a renewed interest in home brewing, where do-it-yourself brewers boil and bottle their own beer.
In this segment of Gulf Coast Live, we speak with craft beer pioneers of Southwest Florida, and what the future holds for craft beer on the gulf coast.
