Zoo programs and more are being offered to keep kids engaged during the holiday break.

As the holiday break approaches for schools in Southwest Florida, parents face the opportunity—and challenge—of deciding how to structure their child's time during the break.

Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., Gulf Coast Live features educator Elizabeth Garcia with Discovery Day Academy, explaining why it's important for kids to take a break from school, and why it's also important to keep kids engaged with learning at the same time.

We'll also talk with the Pam Edlund with the Collier County Boys and Girl's Club, as well as Stacey Graison, director of education at the Naples Zoo, about holiday programs they're offering to keep kids entertained and engaged during the holiday break.

Matthew Smith is a reporter and producer of WGCU’s Gulf Coast Live.
