The Green Wave Marching Band from Fort Myers High School just returned from performing in the London New Year’s Day parade.

The trip involved more than 240 marching band, orchestra, and choral students and chaperones. The Fort Myers group made a splash with multiple performances beyond the parade, including a gala concert at Cardogen Hall and a chorus concert at Westminster Central Hall.

Friday at 1:30 p.m. on Gulf Coast Live, band director Mark Dahlberg joins band student Kelsey Trent, drum major Jalen Luna,  and parent chaperone Jennifer Paul to discuss the trip, the performances, and what 2017 has in store for the Green Wave group.

Matthew Smith is a reporter and producer of WGCU’s Gulf Coast Live.
