The first week of February has been designated as the third annual National Gun Violence Survivors Week in recognition of the resilience of people whose lives have been affected by gun violence in this country.
About 58% of American adults are survivors of gun violence, either experiencing it directly themselves, or by caring for someone who has experienced gun violence in their lifetimes.
We’re learning about local efforts to support gun violence survivors, and steps being taken to change laws for measures like requiring background checks on all gun sales, by talking with two members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. It's a national non-partisan, grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can help protect people from gun violence.
