The Blue-gray Gnatcatcher is a tiny gray-and-white bird with a black tail found throughout Florida in winter, and through most of the state during the rest of the year. It is primarily a bird of sunlight, hunting among tall weeds, the tall Alligatorflag and cattails at water’s edge, in sunlit openings, forest edges, and along city streets. It easily reminds one of what a miniature Mockingbird would look like – except it has a distinct white ring around each eye.
