Collier County Board of County Commissioners

  • State health officials reported 5,807 new COVID-19 cases, Wednesday, for a total of 762,533 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 105 new coronavirus-related deaths, Oct. 21, increasing the statewide death toll to 16,413 fatalities.
  • During an emotionally charged hours-long meeting, Thursday, Collier County Commissioners voted to extend a mandatory mask order imposed in late July, for another seven weeks until October 22.
  • State health officials reported 3,571 new cases of COVID-19, Thursday increasing Florida's total to 637,013 cases.The Florida Department of Health also reported 149 new coronavirus-related deaths, yesterday, bringing the statewide death toll to 11,800 fatalities. The seven-day average for numbers of deaths reported in a day is 112. That number has not dropped below 100 reported deaths a day since July 16.
  • State health officials reported 7,569 new cases of COVID-19, Tuesday and 187 new coronavirus-related deaths.The Florida Department of Health released a statement, Sept. 1, explaining that Tuesday's reported single-day increase in cases of the virus is inflated due to delayed reporting of test results from Quest Diagnostics. The Health Department's statement notes that the test reporting dump from Quest includes nearly 75,000 tests, some dating as far back as April.The incident has prompted the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Division of Emergency Management to sever ties with the laboratory company.
  • State health officials reported 6,236 new COVID-19 cases, Thursday, increasing the statewide total to 557,137 cases. Aug. 13 marked the 18th consecutive day the state has reported fewer than 10,000 new cases of the virus in a day.The Florida Department of Health also reported 148 new coronavirus-related deaths, Thursday, bringing the statewide death toll to 8,913 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
  • State health officials reported 9,440 new cases of COVID-19, Tuesday, increasing Florida's total to 369,834 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 134 coronavirus-related deaths, yesterday, bringing the statewide death toll to 5,206 fatalities.Tuesday marked the 28th consecutive day that Florida experienced a single-day increase of at least 5,000 new cases.
  • During an emergency meeting, Tuesday, Collier County Commissioners passed a mandatory mask ordinance that takes effect immediately.Commissioners reversed course from their vote last week against a mandatory face covering amid the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases and voted in favor an ordinance requiring people to wear face coverings in businesses, non-profits and in most other public buildings in unincorporated portions of Collier County.
  • On Tuesday, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners voted 3-to-2 in favor of adopting an executive order requiring the use of face masks in the county.
