This mural by Southwest Florida artist Roland Ruocco stood in front of the Alliance for the Arts before it was vandalized multiple times in April, 2022. The 4×8 foot murals depicting Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy could be seen by traffic passing on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers. It's now a beacon of community support and response to the war in Ukraine, inspiring 20 more murals to be created by local artists.

Artists create 20 new murals for Ukraine to encourage dialogue after vandalism

After two murals of Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy were vandalized in April at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida, a larger project was born. Now, an accordion of twenty 4×8 foot murals painted by local artists line the Alliances’ festival grounds. All using vivid colors - most emphasizing the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag.

Marching bands from around the state came together to battle it out on the Dunbar high School Marching Tigers’ home turf on Sunday for the first-ever SW Florida Band Jamboree. And these aren’t your corps or military style kind of marching bands. These show style bands have a captivating level of skill, swagger, and flash.
