A group of immigration activists started caravanning across the state Tuesday, advocating against anti-immigration bills moving through the Florida legislature. They kicked off the traveling protest in Miami-- planning stops in Bonita Springs, Tampa and Apopka. Their last stop is Tallahassee.

Planned Parenthood protested the Florida legislature this week, saying it’s making politically motivated attacks against it.

This includes attempts by the Florida House to block funding to the organization. There are also bills adding regulations that the organization said will restrict access to abortions.


A Republican state lawmaker wants to give Florida residents the option to hand off their digital assets if they die, or if they are not capable of handling them anymore. The Senate bill, designed to protect Floridians’ digital identity, passed the full Senate recently. And the House will likely take it up next week. This legislation is expected to make it to Governor Rick Scott’s desk.

A  bill to prevent discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation or gender identity will have its first state Senate hearing Monday, Feb. 8. It’s called “The Florida Competitive Workforce Act." Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth actually keep tabs on Florida companies that are not inclusive.
