The operator of a Florida gun show says he's willing to move to another location in the wake of the massacre that happened at a nearby high school, but he might go to court if he can't find anything.

The Clay County School Board has approved the creation of a new position — armed safety officers — to staff its 27 elementary schools starting next school year.

In a move prompted by the Parkland high school shooting, the waiting period to purchase a firearm in Hillsborough County is now five days.

UPDATED: The Duval School Board voted 6-1 in favor of  creating a new position called a School Safety Assistant. Board member Ashley Smith Juarez was the only "no" vote.

The board also unanimously passed a resolution against a plan the state Board of Education is expected to vote on this month.

The organization behind a petition drive to put an assault rifle ban on the 2020 ballot announced its steering committee Monday.
