Despite resigning in disgrace after the Parkland school shooting, former Broward Sheriff's Office deputy Scot Peterson is receiving a generous state pension that will pay him more than he made in his last year on the force.

FDLE Agent Named To Oversee School Safety

A longtime agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will direct the state’s Office of Safe Schools, which was created after a mass shooting in February that left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County. 

The Brooksville City Council voted Monday evening to disband the local police department. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office will take over the city's law enforcement duties June 1.
