Naples City Council

  • The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office will conduct a machine recount followed by a manual recount of ballots from the Naples mayoral race and a city council race that were too close to call following Tuesday’s elections.
  • Former President Donald Trump handily won Florida's Presidential Preference Primary election, Tuesday. In Naples, the mayoral race and one city council seat were too close to call and now head for a recount.
  • We listen back to last week’s forum with City of Naples Mayoral candidates ahead of the March 19 election. The forum included all three candidates: incumbent Mayor Teresa Heitmann, current Naples City Councilman Ted Blankenship, and former councilman Gary Price. The forum was moderated by WGCU’s John Davis and Naples Daily News Executive Editor Wendy Fullerton Powell, and organized by the League of Women Voters of Collier County and the Collier Forum Coalition.

  • State health officials reported 11,015 new COVID-19 cases, Monday, for a total of 1,212,581 cases.The Florida Department of Health also reported 112 new coronavirus-related deaths, Dec. 21, increasing the statewide death toll to 20,976 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.
  • State health officials reported 11,541 new COVID-19 cases, Wednesday, for a total of 1,155,335 cases.The Florida Department of Health also reported 122 new coronavirus-related deaths, Dec. 16, increasing the statewide death toll to 20,490 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.
  • State health officials reported 7,925 COVID-19 cases, Wednesday, for a total of 905,248 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 87 new coronavirus-related deaths, Nov. 18, increasing the statewide death toll to 17,949 fatalities.Over the past seven days, the single-day average number of new infections reported has increased to nearly 6,735 cases. The average number of daily deaths reported over the past week now stands at nearly 56 fatalities a day.
  • Thursday marked the third consecutive day state health officials reported a new record-high number of coronavirus-related deaths in a single day. The Florida Department of Health reported 253 deaths, July 30, increasing the statewide total to 6,586 fatalities.State health officials also reported 9,956 new cases of COVID-19, Thursday, for a total of 461,379 cases. Yesterday marked the 37th consecutive day the state has reported more than 5,000 new cases in a single day.
