Theatre Conspiracy is currently running productions of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic drama, “A Raisin in the Sun,” at the Alliance of the Arts in Fort Myers.  The story and its themes tackle hard truths about racism, segregation, and socioeconomic mobility through the story of a black family’s experience moving into a prosperous white neighborhood in 1950s Chicago.  

A Florida middle school teacher accused of promoting racist views has resigned.

The educator first came under fire after it was revealed she was the host of a white nationalist podcast.

On her show called “Unapologetic,” social studies teacher Dayanna Volitich, argued that some races are smarter than others and suggested that Muslims be exterminated to prevent terrorism.

The white nationalist group League of the South was met with furious counter-demonstrators in Tallahassee on Saturday (1/27). Around 200 officers from every law enforcement agency in town helped keep the two groups apart in front of the Historic Florida Capitol.

New York Times bestselling author and investigative journalist Edwin Black is returning to Southwest Florida to give two lectures at Florida Gulf Coast University.

The first will focus on "Black Victims of Nazi Policy: From Africa to Berlin to North Carolina," and the second will be on "Eugenics and the Ethics of Scientific Racism."

In communities across South Florida, people gathered on Sunday evening to pray for peace and honor those killed in the violence during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
