Tropical Depression Three is sitting just to the east of Florida this morning, about 40 from West Palm Beach.
The bigger the story for the state might be what’s coming at us from the other direction, which is an unusually strong front - at least by July standards. And it will likely stall for a few days, producing repeating rounds of thunderstorms with heavy rain, especially across the northern two-thirds of the state. The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression Three will turn away from Florida and dissipate today, but forecasters are now watching an area in the northern Gulf of Mexico that could develop into something tropical later this week.
