Broward Educators Propose New Curriculum in Response to Midterm Recounts

WGCU
Polling Place

As the recounts for governor, U.S. Senate and agriculture commissioner dominated the news here in Florida, educators in Broward County decided to try to make this a teachable moment for students. School Board members, teachers, and members of the PTA unveiled new draft curriculum during the recount that would reinforce the need to participate in our democracy and the voting process.

The draft curriculum content will focus on the basic democratic process, the role voting plays in sustaining our democracy, and efforts that take place to ensure that every vote is counted, and every voice is heard. We're joined Anna Fusco, President of the Broward Teachers Union.
