To say that Joe Kemper helped shape the Collier School District’s athletic programs would not be an understatement. After 33 years in the school system where he worked his way up to from a math teacher and coach to the role of Interscholastic Athletics Coordinator, Kemper is hanging up his whistle and clipboard and heading into retirement.
Kemper joins Gulf Coast Live to talk about the changes he’s seen, and helped initiate, throughout the years with the school district, from the addiction of artificial turf, to concussion testing, to random drug testing of student athletes. He's also share his story of how he got started in sports, and Southwest Florida, going from college coaching to a career preparing athletes for college.
