Sharon Seeks Coalition, Beats No-Confidence Bid

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon survives a no-confidence vote Monday, the same day he sought to form a unity government with opposition leader Shimon Peres. Sharon's coalition government barely survived the no-confidence attempt, which fell just six votes short in the Israeli parliament. Hear NPR's Peter Kenyon.

Pregnant women parking permits draw a challenge in Florida

Disability-rights advocates are challenging a new state law allowing pregnant women to use parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities, alleging the measure violates federal protections. The “expectant mother parking permit” allows pregnant women to obtain disabled parking placards at any point in their pregnancies. The permit, which women can get with notes from their doctors confirming they are pregnant, costs $15 and lasts for a year.

Deadline set for Lee homeowners with damage from Hurricane Ian
