For Many Russians, Yeltsin Was No Hero

Seen in the West as a vital democracy advocate, Yeltsin was disliked by many ordinary Russians. They blamed him for the economic chaos that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union. Pregnant women parking permits draw a challenge in Florida

Disability-rights advocates are challenging a new state law allowing pregnant women to use parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities, alleging the measure violates federal protections. The “expectant mother parking permit” allows pregnant women to obtain disabled parking placards at any point in their pregnancies. The permit, which women can get with notes from their doctors confirming they are pregnant, costs $15 and lasts for a year.

Deadline set for Lee homeowners with damage from Hurricane Ian

Folks in Immokalee who depended on the community's only supermarket, Winn Dixie, are frustrated and concerned. The store closed about a week ago as part of Aldi's acquisition of Southeastern Grocers.
