Recent robocall scams in Florida targeted senior citizens.

Florida’s Attorney General Pam Bondi is joining 44 other states in a fight against Robocall scams.

In a joint-letter the group is asking mobile phone carriers to make call-blocking technology available to customers. The letter asks companies that already provide the technology to alert customers about their options to block scam phone calls. Whitney Ray, a spokesman in Bondi’s Office, said robocalls are getting smarter.

“Robocall scams aren’t a new thing but what we have seen recently is a dramatic increase in the number of complaints our office is receiving about robocalls and robocalling scams," Ray said. "And one thing that’s new is increases and advancements in technology.”

Only since a June FCC ruling have major phone carriers had the availability to offer phone call-blocking technology to customers.
