House and Senate lawmakers are taking another crack at implementing last year’s medical marijuana amendment.
The key disagreement to this point has been the question of capping the number of retail dispensaries. But Sen. Rob Bradley (R-Fleming Island) says negotiators have reached a compromise on the framework.
“We concluded on it being the number of 25 maximum per license holder,” Bradley says, “and in 2020 that ceiling will sunset.”
Lawmakers also included regional restrictions to discourage dispensaries clustering in urban areas. Wednesday afternoon Governor Scott officially added medical marijuana to the special session call.
