Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi wants residents who desire to help Hurricane Harvey victims to be mindful of disaster relief charity scams.
After a devastating hurricane, charitable donations can usually help local communities recover. But, Bondi says it’s also the time for scammers to take advantage of those good attentions.
So, she adds some tips to protect against these scams include consider donating to an established disaster-relief charity like the Red Cross or research a charity, using CharityNavigator.org.
Anyone with complaints can contact the Attorney General’s office at 866-9-NO-SCAM, visit MyFloridaLegal.com or contact the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance at (703) 276-0100.
