The halls of the Leon County courthouse were packed Monday as a grand jury began its investigation into the death of a Florida State University student. The investigation and testimony is expected to continue Tuesday.

The grand jury is expected to question university officials along with members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Andrew Coffey, who was pledging the fraternity, died in November at an off-campus party. The Tallahassee Police Department has said alcohol was involved, but has not released a cause of death. Following the incident FSU President John Thrasher indefinitely suspended all activities for Greek letter organizations. He has also banned alcohol at university related events. Thrasher is one of the first people who testified before the grand jury Monday morning.
