Florida State University has lifted a ban prohibiting alcohol at sanctioned Greek life and student organization events.
It’s been five months since University President John Thrasher announced the ban on alcohol at social events. The ban was enacted in response to the death of Pi Kappa Phi pledge Andrew Coffey at an off-campus party. Now, organization heads must complete a risk management training conducted by the university in order to serve alcohol at functions.
FSU has notified its fraternities, sororities and student organizations with an email detailing the requirements for policy reinstatement.
Vice President for Student Affairs Amy Hecht told fraternities and sororities in the email, “Your efforts over the past few months have contributed to the progress we have made.”
