DOH-Collier Offers Tips to Stay Safe After Storm Passes

Health officials in Collier County are advising residents to stay vigilant after the direct impacts of Eta subside.

In a statement, the Florida Department of Health in Collier County said people should avoid driving through and coming into contact with standing water. Floodwater can hide downed power lines and contaminants that could lead to wound infections, rash or gastrointestinal illness.

If using a gas powered generator, DOH-Collier recommends placing it outside at least 20 feet from any window, door or vent to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Boiling water notices and other post-storm advisories can be found online.
